Christmas and New Years Break

Filming has been put on hiatus until after the Holidays. We will resume filming on January 6, 2009. The next few books will be easier to film with two people, so if you can, try to arrange filming with a partner on January 6th.

December 15, 2008 Update

I don't think we have to pair off this week. Book 84 will be time consuming as many sections have to have staples removed and then paper-clipped after completion. It is also a rather large book. John has returned Book 82 and that will be filmed after Book 84. One person should be able to film Book 82. Let me know how everyone feels about filming the following two weeks around the holidays. Does anyone want to take a two week hiatus or keep filming. Contact me or leave comments.

Also, the weather may be a bit nasty tomorrow morning. Be careful!

Bert, I'm working on getting Roll 4 duped and spliced. When it is completed I will send the dupe to you. John is supposed to email me your mailing address.

December 8, 2008 Update

Hi everyone. I haven't heard from anyone and the weather doesn't look too bad, so I guess tomorrows filming will go as scheduled. Last week we finished re-filming Books 25-27 and completed up to Book 80. Books 85 thru 93 will probably require two people to film, but I don't know if we will get that far this week. However, for next week we should partner up with someone to make filming easier. Contact me or leave a comment in the comment area below this post if you can make arrangements to film with someone.

December 1, 2008 Update

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. The camera is set up to film Books 25-27. Jim can't make it to his normal Tuesday morning session but will do some filming Wednesday night. Book 25 would probably be easier with two people filming. I was wondering if maybe Richard or Curt can come in and help Jack at his scheduled time. Books 26 and 27 can be handled by one person.

Happy Thanksgiving

We completed up to Book 77 today. Great job. After completing Book 77, I changed the film.
I put in the unexposed film that was left over from the last step test. It has almost 1500 frames left. We will film Books 25 through 27 on this roll, then install a new roll of film and proceed with our regular schedule. But thats a matter for next week. In the meantime I'd like to wish all of our volunteers and their families a Happy Thanksgiving. Easy on the turkey.

November 23, 2008 Update

We completed six books last week, finishing with Book 73. This weeks schedule is on for Tuesday for everyone who can make it. I will try to film Tuesday night since Thursday is Thanksgiving. The last forecast I heard said there is a good possibility of ice and snow on Tuesday, so that may affect this weeks schedule. We will film for a few more weeks before we take a small hiatus for the Christmas Holidays.

November 17, 2008 Update

Curt had an emergency and won't be able to film tomorrow.
As far as I know everyone else will be able to make it tomorrow.

Jim will probably film Book 68 and possibly Book 69 tomorrow and then change the film. We will then shoot Books 25, 26 and 27 over again because of the problem we had with the film fogging when we originally filmed them. When we finish shooting these books we will then resume our regular sequence.

November 16, 2008 Update

Good job last week. We completed 8 books. I haven't heard from anyone saying they can't make it this week, so I guess this weeks schedule goes as scheduled.

November 10, 2008 Second Update

I just received the step test numbers from Jim W. and marked the cover sheets of the first box of books that need to be filmed. Everything is set to go on Tuesday. Ron and I will film Thursday night.

November 10, 2008 Update

I just spoke with Jim W. and he said he would have the step test numbers done sometime this afternoon. He will call me when they are ready. I will post later this afternoon to let everyone know for sure about tomorrow's filming.

Jim will not be in tomorrow, so Jack will be the first scheduled filmer at 9:30 followed by Curt and Richard. Book 60 is ready to go. I loaded a new roll of film in the camera on Saturday.

Ron Scheff will be coming in on Thursday night for some training.

We have a new volunteer coming in next Tuesday. We'd all like to welcome Tina Pastusic to the crew.

November 6, 2008 Update

Jim, Richard and Alan completed the Step Tests for Hanover Green Cemetery books 61-98 last night. Alan dropped off the film at Jim W. this morning. The Step Test results should be back before Tuesday's filming.

November 2, 2008 Update

Tuesdays filming schedule has been cancelled!

Tuesdays filming has been cancelled. We have completed up to Book 59. Since only Book 60 has to be filmed and we cannot fit it on the existing roll of film we have decided to do the step tests first and then resume filming starting with Book 60.
Jim and I will be doing the step tests on Wednesday night starting about 6 PM. Curt, Richard and Jack are welcome to come and learn the procedure. Hope to see you there.

Microfilming Schedule Change

There is a change in the microfilm schedule. Jack and Curt will exchange positions on Tuesdays with Jack now coming in at 9:30 and Curt coming in at 11:00.

October 26,2008 Update

I just received an email from Jim saying he will come in on Tuesday at 9:30 to help Curt with the large book that has to be filmed vertically. The remainder of the schedule can proceed as scheduled. October 23, 2008 Update

I completed Books 53 through 55 tonight. The SF reading is 1463 so there is plenty of film left for Tuesday's filming. The next Book to be done is a large book and has to be done in the vertical position. It would probably be an easier task if two people were to film it.
Maybe someone can come in early and help Jim, or Jim can come in later to help Curt, Jack or Richard. Any suggestions? You can email me or leave feedback in the comments section of this post.

October 18,2008 Update

Step tests numbers for Hanover Green Cemetery Books 52 through 59 have not come back from Jim W. as of this post. I hope to receive them on Monday. Stay posted to this blog as I will post as soon as I receive the numbers. Hopefully the Tuesday schedule will go as planned. Another box of books are ready for step tests. We will try to complete those this week so we can have enough material to keep us going for awhile.

Microfilming Schedule

This blog has been set up to resolve some communication problems that our volunteers have been encountering. A few volunteers have made trips to the library recently only to find that there was no material ready to be microfilmed because we were waiting on step tests numbers.

I am hoping that by setting up this blog, any changes or cancellations to the microfilming schedule can be posted here almost immediately. Volunteers can then check this blog to see if any changes or cancellations have been made before making the trip to the library.



Hopefully in the future we can add other features to the blog such as instructions, upcoming projects, complete listings of completed microfilmed material, etc.
